Romance at its best with a monumental symphony by Glazunov, smaller orchestral works by Tcherepnin and Brahms, and heavenly chants by Duruflé. With this refreshing repertoire, Krashna Musika's choir and symphony orchestra will attempt to beam you to France.

Programme

Choir:

Bortniansky – Cherubijnse Hymne

Schnittke – 3 Geistliche Gesänge

Duruflé – Quatre Motets sur des thèmes grégoriens

-        1. Ubi Caritas

-        4. Tantum Ergo

Buxtehude – Der Herr ist mit mir & Man singet mit Freuden vom Sieg

Durante – Magnificat

Orchestra:

Brahms – Tragische Ouverture

Tcherepnin – Prélude pour la pièce de Rostand 'Princesse Lointaine'

Glazunov – Symfonie nr. 7 ‘Pastorale’

Returning from a week-long concert tour to Paris and Tours, the student music association "Krashna Musika" of Delft will be making a pit-stop at Amare in The Hague.

Prior to the intermission, Krashna's choir will perform a mainly ecclesiastical program, consisting of Baroque works by Buxtehude and Durante, as well as the much more modern Motets on Gregorian themes by Duruflé.

After the intermission, the symphony orchestra will turn the focus to two Russian composers who were forced to flee the motherland – something that has regrettably once again become a quite common occurrence recently - and ended up in France. Nikolay Tcherepnin's lovely Prelude to "La Princesse lointaine" stands in stark contrast to its contemporary, Glazunov's pastoral seventh symphony.
