Rewire Festival

Thu 7 Apr ’22-Sun 10 Apr ’22From 19:30
Rewire is an internationale music festival, that brings together a wide range of musical and interdisciplinary performances, specially commissioned works, club nights, installations, talks, screenings, and more. During the weekend of 7 - 10 April, Amare will be part of Rewire Festival. Come and explore!
Highlights
On Friday April 8th, Ryoji Ikeda, the luminary of electronic music and visual arts presents an analogue performance in the Concertzaal of Amare, in collaboration with Les Percussions de Strasbourg. 100 Cymbals gives a fascinating insight in the tension between the digital and the physical and is a prime example of the electrifying sensibilities of the Japanese master. Rewire is also proud to present around world-renowned composer, singer and interdisciplinary artist Meredith Monk. When it comes to performances by Meredith Monk, you should leave your expectations at the door, as one of the defining traits of Monk’s composing and performing is that they defy conventional ideas about what music should be or sound like.
Sunday April 10th the famous artist Grouper will perform in Amare. The Oregon based musician Liz Harris creates intimate songs that are often covered under a hazy blanket of fuzzy static and crackling reverb. Through this opaque sound design her emotionally piercing melodies and dreamlike vocals still shimmer like bright stars on a cloudy night. On that same day, Italian composer and musician Caterina Barbieri presents a site-specific show featuring new music and a rework for four voices by Evelyn Saylor of Ecstatic Computation's opening track Fantas.
