Aircilla kinetic sound installation

Gemma Luz Bosch & Jurriaan de Vos

From 8 April to 3 May, free to walk in

Aircilla, the kinetic sound installation created by Gemma Luz Bosch & Jurriaan de Vos, dances in the air and generates three-dimensional animated geometrical forms and music.

Aircilla is like a mechanical clock that generates 3D animated geometrical forms and music. More than 250 hand-crafted ceramic sound objects are suspended above the visitors, resembling a huge chandelier. The objects are transported up and down and made to collide with each other, resulting in a sound landscape that evolves hand in hand with the physical shapes.

Aircilla is a joint creation by Gemma Luz Bosch and Jurriaan de Vos. Gemma is a composer and maker of new instruments, often using ceramics. She uses these self-made instruments to explore the boundaries of music. Jurriaan is an installation artist with a background in physical theatre. He is fascinated by kinetic art, dynamic spaces, and the relationship between nature and technology.

Aircilla is presented in the foyer of Amare (Kunstenplein), where it can be admired and enjoyed for one month, starting on 8 April. It is part of a larger exhibition during the Rewire Festival. From 8 to 10 April, Rewire and iii present a selection of artworks by international and local artists in and around Amare, under the title Proximity Music: Sensing After Thought.

From 8 April until 3 May at the Tribunetrap (foyer stairs) in Amare.
