Spuiplein renovated - lecture and guided tour

part of The Hague Architecture Week 2026
Sat 13 Jun / 12:00 - 13:00
Sat 13 Jun ’26
12:00 - 13:00

Residents, entrepreneurs, cultural organizations, and skaters were invited to contribute ideas and submit their wishes for the design of the new Spuiplein. They use the square every day. It has become a place where everyone is welcome and can meet, both during the day and in the evening. A footpath connects the Theater aan het Spui, the Filmhuis, and the Nieuwe Kerk. Due to its location surrounding the cultural organizations, it has become a place for diverse cultures and events. The greenery and open spaces with gravel ensure that it does not get too hot quickly and that rainwater drains away effectively. In this way, the square is prepared for climate change.

OKRA created the design for the new Spuiplein. Ingenieursbureau Den Haag developed OKRA's design into a Final Design. The engineering firm also handled the specifications, tendering, and construction management and supervision.
