New art installation in Amare

In celebration of its 200-year anniversary, Het Mauritshuis is working with The Hague Street Art to create four grand murals in The Hague. One of the participating artists is Julien de Casabianca, renowned for his street art that reproduces classical works. Julien selects artworks from local museums around the world and makes them accessible by inserting them into the cityscape. That philosophy meshes well with (Open) Amare: we, too, aim to break down the walls between the stage and the city.

On 26 July, Amare hosted a workshop by Julien about his work and technique. During this workshop, he created an art piece on Kunstenplein: The Goldfinch by Carel Fabritius. The piece can be found next to the door to the Back of House, where Amare’s own songbirds ready themselves for their performances.
