Building our new home! Support Amare
With the opening of Amare in the heart of the city, The Hague will never be the same. Together we continue to create a unique performing arts centre. Now more than ever, we need your help. Support us and make an invaluable contribution to the most beautiful cultural venue of the Netherlands!
Ways you can contribute:
The impact of your contribution
You have the power to help us realise the historical start of Amare: the new home of Zuiderstrandtheater, Residentie Orkest, Nederlands Dans Theater and the Royal Conservatoire. With your support, we are able to:
- Combine a top-level cultural venue with state-of-the-art facilities, where artistic talent can flourish and a new generation is given the opportunity to grow;
- Open up Amare by arranging its public spaces in such a way that local initiatives can be accommodated. Every public space in Amare is a potential stage;
- Make sure that Amare is accessible to a diverse audience from The Hague and surrounding cities. In particular for those who are not naturally drawn to theatre;
- Become a nationally leading performing arts venue that develops and presents unique shows as well as (international) world-class acts in the areas of music, dance and opera.

Supporting foundation for Amare
Contributions and donations to Amare are administered by ‘Stichting Podium van de Stad’. This supporting foundation seeks financial donations for Amare and is registered as a cultural ANBI (public benefit organisation). Stichting Podium van de Stad’s objective is to (financially) support Stichting Amare. The foundation’s capital is used to support Amare with regard to special projects. An independent board ensures that the donations are properly spent on the designated causes and projects.
Tax benefits
An ANBI is exempt from Dutch gift tax on donations and inheritances. Supporting Amare can therefore confer a tax benefit, as Dutch taxpayers can deduct a gift from their income tax or corporate income tax.
As a benefactor, you are entitled to apply a deduction to your Dutch income tax declaration. The amount depends on the nature of the donation. A donation to a cultural ANBI can be raised by 25%. It means you can deduct 125% of your gift from your taxable income, to a maximum increase of € 1,250. The extra deduction applies to both periodic donations and normal (one-off) donations.
Normal donation
For a normal (one-off) donation, the amount you may deduct is subject to a threshold and a maximum sum. You can only deduct the amount above the threshold, and no more than the maximum amount. The threshold is 1% of your threshold income, with a minimum of € 60, and the maximum amount is 10% of your threshold income.
Periodic donation
To increase your tax benefit, without a threshold or maximum, gifts can be recorded in a deed of donation. This deed should stipulate that you will donate a fixed sum for at least five consecutive years. These periodic donations can be deducted fully from your annual income tax declaration.
Dutch businesses subject to corporate income tax can deduct their gift to a (cultural) ANBI. Both one-off and periodic donations can be deducted. Per year, the deduction amounts to a maximum of 50% of your annual profit, with a maximum amount of € 100,000. You may increase a gift to a cultural ANBI by 50%, to a maximum increase of € 2,500. This means you can deduct 150% of your donation.
