Podium De Nieuwe Kamer presents: Egle Petrosiute & Djâmen

Fri 6 Mar

Egle Petrosiute and Djâmen perform together as a duo in the project Songs I Call Home. The Lithuanian jazz vocalist and composer joins forces with the Brazilian guitarist, composer and Latin Grammy laureate to explore Brazilian rhythms, original songs and jazz improvisation in an intimate, cross-cultural dialogue.

Their music is lyrical, soulful and rhythmically rich, shaped by storytelling and a shared search for connection. Songs I Call Home reflects on ideas of belonging, asking whether home is a physical place or something carried through songs and stories across borders, oceans and cultures.

Egle Petrosiute is an improvising singer, composer and lyricist active in the Dutch and international jazz scene. Known for her warm and distinctive tone, she released her debut album Bird’s Notes on Zennez Records, featuring drummer Kiko Freitas. She performs widely across Europe and Brazil and has collaborated with ensembles such as the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, the Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra and the Vilnius Jazz Orchestra.

Djâmen is a composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist rooted in Brazilian musical traditions. Blending jazz, neo-soul and traditional Brazilian music, his work is informed by Afrofuturism and centres on themes of identity, empowerment and social awareness, using music as a unifying force.
