Over the years, the band has performed at prestigious festivals, venues, and clubs around the world, including Montreal Jazz Fest, Barranquijazz, SOB’s (NYC), Curaçao Jazz Fest, Yoshi’s (San Francisco), and many times at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Another highlight was a performance at Heineken Jazz in Puerto Rico together with Paquito D'Rivera and Michel Camilo, and the band has had many famous guest musicians, including Armando Peraza, Giovanni Hidalgo, Orestes Vilató, and Luis Conte.
In its 30-year existence, Nueva Manteca has initiated many special projects such as: Porgy and Bess, Monktuno Suite (the music of Th. Monk), West Side Story, Congo Square (the music of New Orleans), Tribute to Woody Shaw, Afro Cuban Sanctus, and Motown Mambo. In 2010, Nueva Manteca created two new musical productions: Tango con Clave and Requiem par el Mundo, followed by Chicano Rock in 2012/2013. Nueva Manteca's latest project was called ART from 2022. This was a tribute to Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers.
