Rolf Delfos (host)

Fr 6 Mar

Saxophonist and composer Rolf Delfos has been a fixture on the Dutch jazz scene for more than forty years. As co-founder of The Houdini's, he developed into a composer with a distinctive signature style. The sextet released seventeen albums and was awarded the Gouden Notekraker for their oeuvre and contributions to the Dutch jazz scene.

Delfos was and is also involved in projects such as The Jazzinvaders and Artvark and has been leading his own big band, Licks and Brains, since 2004. Within this ensemble, he composes and arranges the entire repertoire and consciously opts for an open structure with plenty of room for soloists. In 2014, he received the Peter Schilperoord Award for his contributions as a Dutch jazz musician. With more than a hundred album contributions, he remains a driving force within the Dutch jazz landscape.
