Festival Sacred Songs 2022 demonstrates the evocative power and beauty of spiritual music, poetry, dance and rituals from various cultures. Local and international artists, both upcoming talents and renowned performers, present programmes inspired by the festival themes of Rituals and Sacred Nature.
Rituals come in many forms. They offer us peace, assurance, healing, a way to deal with upheavals in our lives. The festival explores both ancient and new rituals and the fascinating music, dance and poetry that they have brought forth. Sacred Nature focuses on mankind’s connection to nature and the cosmos and how this is expressed through folk traditions, stories, music and dance. In what ways are younger artists inspired by this?
The Sacred Songs Festival is a collaboration between Amare, Culture Connection, De Vaillant and De Nieuwe Regentes.

About the festival
Festival Sacred Songs 2022 demonstrates the evocative power and beauty of spiritual music, poetry, dance and rituals from various cultures. This biennial festival was first organised in 2016 by Dans- en Muziekcentrum Den Haag (Zuiderstrandtheater) and Culture Connection. After several well-received editions, the festival returns once again in the autumn of 2022, building on the factors that made the previous editions such a success. The programme once again features various programme strands, revolving around the two themes of Rituals and Sacred nature. Each theme has its own story to tell through concerts, performances and extensive contextual programmes, such as films, lectures and workshops.
