Under our roof: Stichting Amare

Amare stands at Spuiplein, in the heart of The Hague. Here, at the crossroads of the city, four renowned organisations have their home: Nederlands Dans Theater, the Residentie Orkest, the Royal Conservatoire, and the former Zuiderstrandtheater.

Zuiderstrandtheater is now Amare
The Hague’s former Zuiderstrandtheater was always meant to be a temporary theatre, built to replace the Lucent Danstheater and Dr Anton Philipszaal. After Zuiderstrandtheater shut its doors in 2021, Amare opened its doors at Spuiplein. In other words: the former Zuiderstrandtheater is now Stichting Amare, which has final responsibility for the operation and programming of Amare.

Programming
Programming at Amare consists of productions by the in-house companies of Nederlands Dans Theater, the Residentie Orkest and the Royal Conservatoire, and of Stichting Amare’s own programming. This way, Amare offers a huge variety of performances, concerts and events, ranging from expressive dance performances to music from all around the world, from classic symphonies to exuberant musicals, from fabulous pop concerts to fun activities for children, and everything in between. Amare is the place to be!
