Hague Talks: What is Just Peace?

Through powerful talks and artistic performances, Hague Talks challenges conventional ideas of peace and justice and invites you to reimagine what a just and lasting peace could look like—both in the world and in your own community.

Anchored in the question “What does a Just Peace look like?”, the evening creates space to explore different perspectives, and to consider how imagination can move us toward collective action.

The evening will open with a welcome address by Mariëlle Vavier, Deputy Mayor of The Hague for Poverty, Inclusion, Public Health, and International Affairs. The programme will be hosted by Leila Prnjavorac (Peace ambassador - 2020, Hague Citizen of the Year - 2017) and will feature inspiring contributions from speakers including Kumi Naidoo (activist, formerly led Amnesty International & Greenpeace International), Rugiatu Neneh Turay-Koroma (Sierra Leonean women’s rights advocate, founder of the Amazonian Initiative Movement & N’NINKIE), Jess O'Connell (US Democracy strategist, CEO of NEWCO Strategies and the Democracy Security Project) and Sahar Shirzad (legal professional with a specialization in human rights, founder of Refugee Millennials).

The event will also be enriched by powerful performances from Nicchelle Buyne (Surinamese-Dutch spoken word artist), Ruby Joemai (interdisciplinary artist, member of CTRL+ALT+IDENTITY and founder of Kaam Kari La), and Shaza Manla (Rotterdam-based fusion artist from Syria).
