La Maquina is a percussion ensemble based on improvisation through sign language. The entire ensemble grooves and dances to improvised music that is conducted/created on the spot by the conductor using a series of gestures. Performed on African sabaren, Cuban congas and bongos, Indian tablas, Australian didgeridoo, Bulgarian tupan and much more.
Please note! This workshop is free of charge, but reservations are required (for parents/guardians and children). Reservations can be made from Sunday 14 December at 8 a.m.
Credits
La Maquina, based in The Hague, consists of students of The Royal Conservatoire The Hague. The group was created in 2022 by percussionist and conductor Ivan Gianakis from Argentina.
