Every culture has its own musical principles, but fundamentally these principles sometimes differ very little. Tonight we will learn what connects different cultures musically with body percussion and percussion instruments. The workshop will be led by Gijs Anders van Straalen with assistance from music students from the Royal Conservatoire. Gijs Anders van Straalen is a percussionist, drummer, cultural musicologist and music teacher. For the past 25 years, he has toured the world with various bands and to learn from the great percussion masters in West Africa, Brazil , South India and the US.
