Rufus Wainwright and the Metropole Orkest join forces in a special tribute to composer Kurt Weill. This concert focuses on Wainwright’s recent album I’m a Stranger Here Myself – Wainwright Does Weill, in which he reinterprets the work of the German-American composer. With his signature theatricality, warmth, and sense of drama, Wainwright brings Weill’s music to life in a rich blend of classical, cabaret, and jazz, where melancholy and hope intertwine.

About Lost in the Stars, one of the central pieces of the project, Wainwright says:
‘The dramatic and troubling message of Lost in the Stars is sadly far too relatable in our day and age, but the music always gives hope.’

After previous performances in cities including New York and Los Angeles, Wainwright Does Weill now takes on a new, large-scale orchestral form with the Metropole Orkest. Together, they bring Weill’s timeless repertoire — including Surabaya Johnny, September Song, and Je ne t’aime pas — to life in rich arrangements full of emotional depth and contemporary sensitivity, honoring the spirit of Weill.
