Saxofoniste Tineke Postma is een van de weinige Nederlandse jazzmusici die elk jaar voorkomt in de International Critics Poll van het magazine DownBeat. Postma heeft een imposante staat van dienst. Haar muziek wordt soms post-bop genoemd, maar die omschrijving is veel te krap voor haar vrije en open aanpak. De saxofoniste ontving in 2015 de prestigieuze Boy Edgarprijs en werd in 2021 door de Académie Du Jazz in Frankrijk uitgeroepen tot European Musician of the Year.

Saxofoniste en componiste Tineke Postma, door de Amerikaanse Downbeat Polls 2019 'Rising Star' genoemd, toert internationaal als leadzangeres en gastmuzikant. Ze bracht zeven albums uit als leadzangeres, die internationaal lovend werden ontvangen. Op talloze albums is ze te horen als gastsoliste.

Postma's nieuwste album Aria verscheen in mei 2023. Daarop zijn ook Ben Monder (gitaar), Robert Landfermann (bas) en Tristan Renfrow (drums) te horen. Het album bevat uitsluitend nieuwe composities van de jazzmuzikant.

Naast eerder genoemde prijzen ontving Postma ook vele andere onderscheidingen, zoals de Jazz Juan Revelations Award (2009, Antibes' Juan-les-Pins Jazz Festival) en een Edison National Category (het Nederlandse equivalent van de Grammy's) in 2011 voor het album The Dawn of Light van het Tineke Postma Quartet. Daarnaast is ze te horen op twee Grammy-bekroonde albums: Mosaic Project van Terri Lyne Carrington en Beautiful Life van Dianne Reeves.
