An immersive musical journey through the forgotten heart of Eastern Anatolia. Ali Doğan Gönültaş, with his voice and tembur, brings to life stories passed down for generations only in whispers, laments and dance.

Kurdish tembur player, singer and guitarist Ali Doğan Gönültaş was born in Kiğı, eastern Anatolia. A region where music and poetry act as living memory, testifying to its rhythms, languages and troubled history, including the Armenian genocide, the suppression of Kurdish culture and the Alevi faith.

He studied archaeology and communication at the University of Kocaeli. In 2007, he started his professional music career with the band Ze Tijê as well as oral field research. This led in 2022 to his solo album Kiğı, a personal musical journey of 150 years with songs of lament, love and hope in Kurmancî, Kırdaskî, Armenian, Turkish and Zazakî, performed with passionate virtuosity.
