A unique programme in which Baroque music meets ancient Chinese musical traditions. In Dragon Dances & Jasmin Songs, Holland Baroque and sheng virtuoso Wu Wei create a refined dialogue between East and West.

Wu Wei plays the sheng, a traditional Chinese mouth organ with a history of more than 3,000 years. The instrument is a marvel of sound, rhythm and melody, immediately evoking the richness of Chinese musical culture. The inspiration for this new programme comes from historical European collections of traditional Chinese music gathered in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries - including the Jones Dalberg Collection (1802), the Grandville Bantock Collection (1911) and the Willeke Collection (1909). Together with Wu Wei, Holland Baroque breathes new life into this music in a surprising and refined dialogue between East and West.
