Podium de Nieuwe Kamer organizes sparkling Sunday afternoon jazz twice a month at the Kunstenplein. PDNK does this in collaboration with Open Amare and Brasserie Amare.

At each concert, top musicians play a live set with their own bands from 15:00 to 17:30. The concerts are free to attend thanks to the support of Open Amare and Brasserie Amare. You can remain seated and relaxed during the concert: the Brasserie team will come by to serve your drinks and snacks. During the intermission, we ask for a voluntary contribution to help keep these live jazz concerts possible. Donations can be made in cash or easily via a QR code.

Programme

Eric Ineke and Ben van den Dungen highlight the more spiritual side of Coltrane with their quartet.

John Coltrane is regarded as one of the greatest innovators in the history of jazz. In 2026, it will be exactly 100 years since the legendary saxophonist and composer was born. John Coltrane passed away more than fifty years ago, but today he is still among us, more alive than ever.

His sound continues to attract the attention of an ever-growing fan base. His legend is rock-solid: firmly anchored in our culture, just like that of every other musical great of the 20th century. His saxophone sound—somber, searching, dark—is still one of the most recognizable in modern jazz. His influence extends across styles and genres and transcends cultural boundaries. The modern ideal that music serves a deep spiritual, connecting purpose? A defining facet of John Coltrane.
