17 juli 1717, Theems, Londen: Een koning plant een boottochtje. Wat is er nu beter om hem tijdens deze rivierprocessie te vermaken dan met muziek? Hij geeft daarom een van de beste componisten van die tijd de opdracht om drie suites te schrijven. Zijn naam: George Friedrich Händel.

Een orkest gaat aan boord van een andere boot om de koninklijke processie te begeleiden. Het is een groot succes. De koning vraagt de musici om het werk steeds opnieuw te spelen. De Water Music, zoals de compositie heet, was direct een groot succes.

Vandaag: Neem plaats in onze denkbeeldige boot, als koning of koningin, met een Incogniti-orkest tot uw beschikking. Laat u vervolgens zachtjes en vredig meevoeren door een rivier van intense emoties, opgeroepen door de schitterende muziek van G.F. Handel... keer op keer.
