Despite the ban on solo singing by women in Iran, Vahdat has emerged as a powerful cultural ambassador and a symbol of artistic freedom and women’s empowerment. Through her many international collaborations, she connects worlds and touches audiences around the globe.

Programme

This program features original compositions by Mahsa Vahdat set to works by the great poets of Persian literature Hafez, Rumi, Forough Farrokhzad, and Mohammad Ibrahim Jafari. Inspired by the spirit of Nowruz, the Persian New Year, the repertoire celebrates renewal, beauty, and the enduring vitality of Persian poetry and music. With evocative melodies and rich lyrical tradition, the performance invites audiences into a soundscape where classical heritage meets contemporary expression.

My Voice Is My Home is a concert project by Iranian singer Mahsa Vahdat, in which classical and contemporary Persian poetry blends with music from the Middle East and the Mediterranean region. Together with musicians from diverse backgrounds, she combines centuries-old vocal traditions with innovative arrangements and improvisation.

The project is also an act of artistic resistance. Since the 1979 revolution, women in Iran have been prohibited from singing solo in public. With her voice, Vahdat claims space for remembrance, freedom, and renewal. Moving beyond the narrative of politics and conflict, My Voice Is My Home demonstrates that culture is not a static past, but a living dialogue full of shared meaning.
