Introduction: The Story Behind the Ndlovu Youth Choir
Before the concert, 2:15–2:45 p.m. at the Swing
In September, Amare will welcome the world-famous Ndlovu Youth Choir from South Africa. This choir moves audiences around the world with its powerful voices, infectious energy, and inspiring story. The world first discovered the choir during its impressive appearance on America’s Got Talent in 2019. Since then, the choir has performed for hundreds of thousands of people, collaborated with international artists, and brought a message of hope, connection, and resilience to audiences around the world.
But behind this success lies a story that is just as remarkable as the music itself. Many of the young people in the choir are growing up in environments where poverty, unemployment, and limited opportunities are a daily reality. Through the choir, they not only discover their musical talents but also develop discipline, self-confidence, leadership skills, and a broader perspective on the world. The choir offers young people the chance to grow, pursue their dreams, and shape their own futures. For the Tjommie Vrienden Foundation, the choir therefore holds special significance. For more than 25 years, Tjommie has supported the projects of the Ndlovu Care Group. The Ndlovu Youth Choir is perhaps the most visible example of what is possible when talent, guidance, and opportunities come together.
