Join us for a special day filled with music, culture, and encounters during the opening concert of a new edition of The Hague African Festival at Amare. The afternoon and evening offer a diverse program with something for everyone. Be surprised by a lively market starting at 1:00 PM, enjoy DJ sets and children's programs, and discover inspiring performances starting at 2:00 PM. Come together and celebrate the richness of African music, art, and culture in The Hague.

  • Continuous: Market & DJs at the Kunstenplein
  • 2 PM: Performances (Kunstenplein)
  • 4 PM: Documentary screening (Tribunetrap)
  • 6:30 PM: Opening (Tribunetrap)
  • 6:40 – 7:15 PM: Talk (Tribunetrap)
  • 7:15 PM: Afrobeats in Orchestra (Tribunetrap)
  • 8 PM: Baaba Maal and suport act (Concert hall)
  • 10 – 11 PM: DJ (Tribunetrap)

From 4:00 PM, we will dive deep together with the documentary Nana Piaw: The Dream of a Dutch-Ghanaian King. Following this, we will delve deeper into themes such as diaspora, identity, and leadership during a moderated panel.

From 6:30 PM, we switch to the evening program with a festive opening and an inspiring talk. Afterwards, Afrobeats in Orchestra presents a unique musical encounter led by BF and Nyarko, bringing together promising Hague artists with African roots and orchestral musicians.

At 8:00 PM, we welcome the legendary Baaba Maal for an impressive concert in the Concert Hall, including a surprising opening act. We will close the day dancing with an energetic DJ set until 11:00 PM.
