It Takes a Child to Raise a Village is a unique participatory project by Corpo Máquina Society, led by choreographer Guilherme Miotto. In collaboration with Laaktheater, Amare has brought this inspiring project to The Hague. At its heart are children, who work alongside professional dancers, musicians, freerunners, acrobats, skateboarders and street footballers. Together, they explore different forms of performing arts through play and creativity, while actively contributing to the artistic process.
The performance demonstrates what can happen when a community comes together around its children. Starting in local neighbourhoods and culminating on the stage of Amare, the project brings together art, movement, play and collaboration in an energetic and inspiring production. Children not only discover the world of performing arts but also experience how their own ideas, talents and choices can shape a creative work.
For schools, this project offers a unique opportunity for students to actively participate in an artistic creation process and experience a professional performance that celebrates the imagination, creativity and potential of young people.
Schools can still register to take part in the creative process. For more information, please contact educatie@laaktheater.nl
