On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June, choreographer Salia Sanou presents the striking performance À nos combats at Amare. In this international, immersive production, boxing and dance meet in a physical, raw, and rhythmic performance full of strength, vulnerability, and intensity. On and around the stage, a unique experience unfolds in which something is constantly happening and the tension remains palpable throughout. Led by the irresistible master of ceremonies, radio host Soro Solo, and the driving beats of Sega Seck, you are swept up in the thrill of the contest.

Salia Sanou drew inspiration for this performance from the legendary boxing match The Rumble in the Jungle. In 1974, the iconic fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman gripped the world. What began as a sporting event grew into a global cultural moment. This June, Sanou brings that charged energy back to life at Amare in a performance that connects the intensity of the ring with the expressiveness of dance.

Sanou also casts a fresh light on the role of women in combat sports. With À nos combats, he shifts the perspective on boxing and opens up a broader conversation about struggle, boundaries, and violence in our society. Fluidity, inventive movement, strength, and vulnerability set the rhythm of the fight. Hand-to-hand combat, footwork, hook, dodge, uppercut: the physical commitment is total, intense, and at times violent. The energy on stage reverberates throughout the space, drawing the audience into a charged atmosphere where sport, performance, and social questions come together.

Is boxing a brutal sport, or a noble one? Can it be a way to learn our limits and to contain the violence in our society? À nos combats is a powerful performance that draws you into a world of struggle, surrender, and movement.
