Dive into a surprising musical adventure: Aurora Orchestra's new, theatrical version of Saint-Saëns LeCarnaval des Animaux. Adiditionally, the famed UK-based orchestra presents the Dutch premier of a new, satirical compoosition by Richard Ayres called Dr. Frompou's Anatomical Study of the Orchestra. An irrisitable experience for anyone that enjoys music, theatre and the imagination!

In the first half of this new production, Aurora Orchestra presents a staging of The Carnival of the Animals, Saint-Saëns's vibrant introduction to orchestral instruments. Performed from memory, the piece is presented by an actress and enhanced with movement, set design, lighting, and new text. From the virtuoso flight of the flute to the demonic tempo of the pianists and the trembling steps of the double bass to the gentle glide of the cello—let yourself be enchanted by this spectacular carnival parade.

The second part of Aurora's carnival playfully takes us behind the curtain to see what happens to the performers after the show is over. Richard Ayres's new work, Dr. Frompou's Anatomical Study of an Orchestra, commissioned specifically for this project, introduces us to the mad scientist Dr. Frompou, who imprisons the orchestra's instruments in a laboratory to conduct musical experiments and discover new ways to create strange and powerful sounds. Discover what happens when the musicians start a revolution!

This performance is suitable for young people aged 12 and up, and is just as much fun for adults!
