With more than 120 musicians and singers, Sinfonia Rotterdam, conducted by Conrad van Alphen, fills the hall with Beethoven's iconic Ninth Symphony. His “Ode to Joy”, the anthem of the European Union since 1972, sounds like a timeless call for freedom, peace and unity.
