With Frau Luna by Paul Lincke, Opera Zuid brings an irresistible Berlin operetta to Dutch theatres. Director Steef de Jong makes his debut with this production, presenting a playful and imaginative performance in a fully Dutch adaptation.

In Frau Luna, a group of young dreamers falls under the spell of the moon. They build an airship and set out in search of the 'man in the moon'. There they arrive in the wondrous world of Frau Luna, where freedom, love and fantasy set the rules. Old conventions disappear, new desires blossom, and nothing is what it seems. Or... is the moon world ultimately a fantastical reflection of earthly life?

Steef de Jong deliberately opts for visible theatrical illusion: with cardboard, strings and inventive stagecraft, the singers build an entire moon world on stage. Philzuid provides the energetic, timeless music under the direction of musical leader Enrico Delamboye, with swinging march rhythms and cabaret influences.

*Frau Luna lasts approximately 150 minutes including an interval and is sung and spoken in Dutch, with English surtitles.
