Thirty years of Hooverphonic: from trip-hop to international pop history
Hooverphonic is one of Belgium’s best-known bands of the past decades. The group broke through in the mid-1990s with an atmospheric and distinctive take on trip-hop, and went on to build a sound that is instantly recognisable: dreamy, cinematic, stylish and always just outside the lines of pop music. Their songs have found their way into films, television series and commercials, reaching audiences far beyond Belgium.

Over the years, Hooverphonic has continued to reinvent itself. Ambient pop, psychedelic influences, orchestral arrangements and elegant melodies all form part of the band’s signature. In Belgium, their status is remarkable: since Blue Wonder Power Milk in 1998, all of their albums, including compilations and live recordings, have reached the top ten of the album charts. Five of them reached number one.

Noémie Wolfs returns to an iconic chapter
For this 30 Year Anniversary, Hooverphonic comes to Amare with Noémie Wolfs, one of the most beloved voices in the band’s history. Her performance with Hooverphonic at the Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp in 2012 became a fan favourite. In particular, her rendition of Mad About You became iconic: with more than 200 million views on YouTube, it is Hooverphonic’s most-watched video.

This anniversary show brings together three decades of Hooverphonic: the melancholy, the grandeur, the dark pop sheen and the songs that have become part of a collective memory.
