Felix Mendelssohn Octet op. 20

In a selection from the Lieder ohne Worte and the youthful Octet by Felix Mendelssohn, lyrical freshness and untamed energy resound. Opposed to them are the shimmering poetry of Chausson's Poème and the brilliant flair of Bazzini's Calabrese. Niek Baar (1991) is regarded as one of the foremost violinists of his generation. He combines technical suppleness with deeply felt expressiveness. Together with the musicians of the CKO - heirs to a rich tradition - the result is a concert full of intimacy, fire and chamber-music intensity.
