A compelling journey through the future of jazz: full of colour, dynamism and daring.

Immerse yourself in the extraordinary universe of pianist and composer Rembrandt Frerichs, where the harmonic richness of Messiaen, the spiritual depth of Coltrane and the rhythmic power of Stravinsky come together seamlessly. His music is embraced by top musicians worldwide and is a source of inspiration for a new generation of European creators.

For Gaudeamus, Frerichs wrote the programme Off the Carrousel: an adventurous composition for an extended jazz ensemble. Now this mini-metropolis orchestra is going on tour with five string players, a colourful wind section and an energetic rhythm section.

Frerichs works with a close-knit group of musicians who embrace his open approach to composition. The music is created in the moment, without a conductor, playing between structure and spontaneity.

As cellist Charles Watt says: Rembrandt creates frameworks that allow you to breathe as a musician. Drummer Vinsent Planjer calls each concert a joint journey of discovery full of excitement and freedom.
