With Winterreise, Franz Schubert created a musical universe of unparalleled intensity. On texts by Wilhelm Müller, the listener follows a solitary wanderer through a frozen landscape that is as much inward as outward. The austere piano writing and the direct expressive power of the voice make every emotion tangible: despair, resignation, glimmers of hope. In the refined, deeply felt interpretation by Cooper and Neven, an evening of hushed beauty and existential depth unfolds.
