The Soep Stories photo exhibition takes place every year, and 2026 is no exception. In this year’s exhibition, you’ll meet eight organizers of a Freedom Meal in The Hague: Jari Kösters, Mahmed Aznai, Michèle Hol, Peter Pronk, Fatiha Chokoud, Kristina Virabyan, Anneke Roest-Wald, and Lotte Ottevanger. Each and every one of them believes it is important to celebrate our freedom on May 5 and to reflect on the fact that we are able to live in freedom.

Meet the eight people behind our Hague Freedom Dinners, of which more than 80 will take place this year—including the City Dinner on the Amare stage. Discover what motivates them and their personal perspectives on freedom. Let these portraits inspire you to join a dinner somewhere in the city on May 5 or to organize a dinner yourself next year.

The exhibition will be on view from April 15 through May 5 at the Kunstenplein. The photographs in this exhibition were taken by Anne Reitsma - Anne Reitsma Photography, and the stories were written by Marlies van der Kolk - Haagse Schatten.
