In collaboration with Filmhuis Den Haag, Amare will screen the supporting film Teken en zie de wereld there on May 4 and 5. It will be shown prior to the new restoration of the classic film Het meisje met het rode haar. The film tells the forgotten story of the courageous contribution made by Surinamese soldiers to the liberation of the Netherlands and Europe, for which they received little recognition.

Lured by the promise “Enlist and see the world” and driven by loyalty to the Netherlands, three young Surinamese men leave their homeland to fight in World War II. They overcome discrimination within the Dutch army, which initially rejected them, and endure grueling training in Canada and Wolverhampton. Arriving in Europe with the Princess Irene Brigade, they are confronted with the harsh reality of war, far removed from the promised adventure.

The supporting film will be shown with Dutch subtitles.
