Richard van Zwol appointed as new chairman of the supervisory board

As of September 1, Amare welcomes Richard van Zwol as the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board. He succeeds Hans Biesheuvel, who served the chairmanship for two terms with great dedication and commitment. Amare is delighted with the arrival of Van Zwol, who, with his broad experience and keen eye for societal and governance issues, is able to bring together diverse perspectives. With this reinforcement, Amare can further develop as the international platform for music and dance in The Hague.

Richard van Zwol is an experienced executive and senior civil servant with an extensive track record within the Dutch government. He served as Secretary-General of the Ministry of General Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. Since 2017, he has been a State Councillor at the Council of State. Additionally, he is Chairman of the Academy for Legislation and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EY Netherlands. In 2024, he served as informateur and subsequently formateur during the formation of the Schoof cabinet.

Richard van Zwol on his new position:
“What appeals to me about Amare is the mission to connect the various cultural and artistic performances, concerts, and activities to a large and as diverse a group of people as possible. And doing so in collaboration with partners, at Amare in particular with the Royal Conservatory, the Residentie Orkest, and the Nederlands Danstheater. Additionally, with the aim of making Amare the home of the city of The Hague. I look forward to being able to contribute to this.”
