Anima Obscura is a poignant and beautifully designed multimedia performance about the desire for immortality. In her first production for Scapino, artistic director Nanine Linning takes us on an emotional journey that leads from the mysterious practices of alchemists to the contemporary experiments of biohackers.

The dancers play the leading roles in this quest for the elixir of eternal life. Linning employs a large ensemble for her monumental work, in which choreography, video animation, holograms, costume design and music merge. With her international artistic team, she creates a world of breathtaking images that leaves no one unmoved. Johannes Brahms' majestic “Ein Deutsches Requiem” is interspersed with a contemporary version by composer Yannis Kyriakides.

The renowned harpist Remy van Kesteren plays live and is part of the choreography. Internationally renowned artists, including fashion designer Irina Shaposhnikova, are collaborating on this innovative performance. In a gigantic video set, digital scenographer Claudia Rohrmoser brings the latest technologies to life.

Introduction
Prior to the performances, an introduction will take place at 7 p.m. in the Swing. This is free for visitors to attend. Please arrive on time, as space is limited.
