Talented young singers from the Dutch National Opera Academy bring Joseph Haydn's sparkling comedy Il mondo della luna to life. Directed by Anja Kühnhold, they take to the stage to reveal the delights of this rarely performed opera.

Programme

Joseph Haydn Il mondo della luna

Haydn is best known for his symphonies and string quartets, but his operas remain relatively undiscovered. Il mondo della luna premiered 250 years ago at Esterházy Palace, in present-day Hungary. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore a different side of the composer.

The young singers are accompanied by the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, conducted by Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg. He has previously conducted operas by Haydn and Mozart with the orchestra.
