Tango Mooovs presents: Argentine Tango salon

 

Tango originated in the late nineteenth century in the port districts of Buenos Aires and Montevideo, as a product of Italian, Spanish, and African immigrant cultures. From street dance it grew into a worldwide symbol of passion and elegance. Tango is danced in couples in a close embrace - the so-called abrazo. The typical Tango band, the orquesta típica, consists of bandoneóns, violins, piano, and double bass. Improvisation and non-verbal communication between the dancers are central: the leader guides, the follower interprets.

19:00-20:00 | Beginners workshop: Tango
20:00-23:00 | Social Dance

At the Kunstenplein in Amare, lively social dance evenings are regularly organised in a variety of dance styles, such as Latin, West Coast Swing and Kizomba. Everyone is welcome to join in—whether you’re curious about a new style or have been hitting the dance floor for years. Each social dance evening begins with a workshop tailored to the style of the evening.

Tango Mooovs organises an Argentine Tango salon once a month. The evening starts with an introduction workshop, accessible for all, and after that everyone is welcome to join the dance salon

Special tango performance during Tango Mooovs salon

On 24 June, the Orquesta Tipica Del Mosa will perform a beautiful set during the Tango Mooovs tango salon. Orquesta Tipica Del Mosa is a tango orchestra from The Hague. The orchestra started in 1996 as an introductory course at the Koorenhuis and has grown into an independent and close-knit (amateur) orchestra with about fifteen musicians. Gerard van Duinen has been the musical director since 2006.
