Maxim Shalygin's piano work, performed by Ukrainian pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi.

"TO ALL ALIVE," a double-CD album featuring the piano works composed over the past 20 years by Dutch-Ukrainian composer Maxim Shalygin, performed by acclaimed Ukrainian pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi. This groundbreaking album spans two decades of creative collaboration between composer and performer, showcasing works written between 2004 and 2024.

The recording includes Shalygin's first major composition, "9 Preludes" (2005), written when he was eighteen, alongside the more recent "Fetus Études" (2019-2024), a powerful cycle that includes works composed during the challenging period following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The recording represents not only a musical journey but also stands as a testament to resilience and artistic perseverance in times of adversity.

Antonii is a prize-winner of many international piano contests. Among those prizes are:

· First prize at the 14 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master
Competition (Tel Aviv, Israel, 2014).

· Second Prize at the 58 F. Busoni International Piano Competition
(Bolzano, Italy, 2011).

· First prize at the 51st International Piano Competition “Premio Jaen”
(Jaen, Spain, 2009).

Baryshevskyi, a first prize winner of prestigious competitions including the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, brings his exceptional technical skills and deep understanding of contemporary music to these recordings. His long-standing collaboration with Shalygin, dating back to their student days at the Kyiv Conservatory, lends a special authenticity to these interpretations.

The album was recorded at HaagsPianoHuis and Steppenwolf studio in 2024, with support from the Société Gavigniès, Letterenfonds, Classical NOW! and Goethe-Institut.
