'Fine-tuned dancing making the stage feel alert and alive'

The Guardian

Finally in the Netherlands: Boy Blue, the hip-hop dance company renowned worldwide for its explosive eNa triumphs in London and New York, now brings its latest work Cycles to the Holland Dance Festival – a unique opportunity to experience hip-hop in all its glory on stage.

Cycles is an uncompromising exploration of hip hop in all its forms: fluid, tight, uncompromising and intense. Nine dancers fill the stage with an endless stream of movement, perfectly synchronised with the beats and compositions of co-founder Michael Mikey J Asante. Together with choreographer Kenrick H2O Sandy – according to The Evening Standard the most important driving forces behind British hip hop dance – Boy Blue creates a mesmerising mix of raw street energy and refined performance art.

The international press is unanimous in its praise. The Times calls it dazzling choreographic invention and a sensational dancing spirit ★★★★, while The Telegraph speaks of sheer stagecraft… simply unparalleled.

Since its inception in 2001 in East London, Boy Blue has grown into a cultural movement: a close-knit community that has trained generations of dancers and set a radical new standard for hip-hop dance in theatres. From contributions to the Olympic Games to winning the prestigious Olivier Award, their work has proven time and again that hip hop is more than dance: it is story, heritage and future all rolled into one.

With Cycles, Boy Blue presents a performance that not only pushes the boundaries of hip hop, but also touches the audience right in the heart. A revolutionary experience that is simply not to be missed.
