On Sunday afternoon, January 24, 2027, Writers Unlimited and Amare jointly present Love, Rewritten: the premiere of a unique multidisciplinary production, created by writer, theater maker, and spoken word artist Daniëlle Zawadi and singer and performer Elisabeth Hetherington. The two find common ground in their love for language, theater, dance, and music. Beautifully accompanied by the Matangi Quartet, this promises to be a special afternoon.

The performance is a dialogue between singing voice and writer, and a contemporary interpretation of Robert Schumann's Frauenliebe und Leben. In these love songs, Schumann gave voice to the nineteenth-century ideal of femininity. Their beauty made the work a classic, and for generations young singers have studied and performed these songs. But Schumann's vision of femininity no longer belongs to our time.

Daniëlle Zawadi and Elisabeth Hetherington took up the challenge of creating a new contemporary interpretation of these songs and of related cycles by Clara Schumann and Josephine Lang. With brand-new texts written especially for this programme and sung by Hetherington, they present in their performance - with spoken and sung text - a new vision of love and womanhood.
