Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the Residentie Orkest: a romantic evening with passionate waltzes and tender cello tones.

Programme

Ravel Valses nobles et sentimentales
Haydn Celloconcert in D
R. Strauss Suite ‘Der Rosenkavalier’ (1945)
Ravel La valse

This Valentine’s Day evening, Residentie Orkest brings an ode to love. Maurice Ravel and Richard Strauss offer a rich palette of romantic emotion: perfect for you and your loved one to enjoy. Hear for yourself how these greats express the waltz in spectacular fashion, with every note flirting with and tugging on the heartstrings of the listener. On top of that, grandmaster Jean-Guihen Queyras is here to treat you to one of the most beautiful and famous cello concerts ever.

Surprise your Valentine with an evening full of intensely romantic music led by Anja Bihlmaier, with an extra-large orchestra for an even grander experience. Let yourself be swept away in the dance of amorous passion of Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales, feel the loving caress of the strings in Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D, and experience the lists of love in Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier. This popular opera was such an immediate success upon its premiere that the composer used several highlights to compile a separate orchestral suite. The night concludes with the passionate whirlwinds of Ravel’s La Valse, a musical love letter that sets the heart racing.
