As part of our Open House event on Saturday evening in the Nieuwe Kerk, composer and music theatre maker Meriç Artaç offers a preview of her new opera, The Arrival of Mr. Z. 

I work with director Sjaron Minailo to create a very colourful and dynamic experience for the audience.

Meriç Artaç

In her work, composer and music theatre maker Meriç Artaç draws inspiration from actual people, encountered in public space. During her two-year residency programme at The Hague’s festival Dag in de Branding, she developed five distinct musical characters based on such encounters. 

In her new opera, The Arrival of Mr. Z., Artaç brings these characters together in a quest to find their creator, Mr. Z. What happens when five completely different characters meet? Why are they desperate to find their creator? Artaç explores these questions in a highly original work that will leave no viewer unmoved.

The concert is free, but we do ask that you reserve a ticket in advance.
