Making an age-old work of art shine in such a way that it becomes brand new. Pianist Arthur Jussen sinks his teeth into Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto – a titan among piano pieces.

Programme

One Minute Symphony
Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4
Bruckner Symphony No. 4 'Romantic'

With the bright, light Piano Concerto No. 4 , Beethoven composed a dialogue between piano and orchestra. It evokes the image of Orpheus taming the wild animals, or at least that is what Liszt heard in it.

This piano concerto is a work that fell into oblivion after its premiere, and is still performed today thanks to Mendelssohn. With Arthur Jussen, this masterpiece is in absolutely capable hands.

It took a long time for the precise, perfectionist Austrian Anton Bruckner to be satisfied with his composition of the Fourth Symphony. But it eventually became one of his most beloved symphonies. Nicknamed 'Romantic' by Bruckner himself, you can hear it in the images it conjures up: knights and horses, a medieval city at dawn and awakening nature. In a long time Residentie Orkest will play this grandiose work again, this time conducted by the dynamic Michal Nesterowicz.
