Holland Dance Festival 2024

The Holland Dance Festival Gala de Future of Dance in Amare is the kick-off for the almost four-week festival. From January 24 to February 17, the Holland Dance Festival will open a window on the world of dance in various cities, for the nineteenth time.

Alvin Ailey | Hervé Koubi | Another Kind of Blue | NDT 1 | Junior Company van het Nationale Ballet

In Amare there are five more productions in addition to the opening gala. From America Ailey II with The Next Generation. This junior company was founded in 1974 - under the name Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble - by the American choreographer and visionary Alvin Ailey himself. He thus made a crucial contribution to the development and empowerment of young, especially African-American dancers.

With Sol Invictus, the French-Algerian choreographer Hervé Koubi pays a thrilling ode to the connecting power of dance set against the insignificance of our human existence. His group of dancers is very diverse in background, appearance and skills, and comes from all over the world.

From the Netherlands, the Junior Company of the National Ballet, Another Kind of Blue and NDT 1 are on the program. NDT 1, together with the London theater company Complicité, presents a new work by award-winning theater director Simon McBurney in collaboration with choreographer Crystal Pite.
