In Alla Napoletana, L'Arpeggiata presents an picture of Naples with music from days gone by translated into the tone of today.

During the Renaissance and Baroque period Naples grew into one of Italy's most important music cities. The Neapolitan song became a model for many operatic arias, the wild tarantella a dance that became synonymous with the bustling city. Infectious music with a smile and a tear, the cradle of the Italian song of life.

It was the theorbist Christine Pluhar who founded L'Arpeggiata in 2000. She wanted the spontaneity back in the music of the renaissance and baroque and, as in earlier times, gave improvisation an important place. In addition, she juxtaposed folk music and art music in an infectious way. With CDs that really add something and stimulating live performances that are different every time, L'Arpeggiata grew into the 'superior ensemble' (OpusKlassiek) that it is today.
