There once was a man who travelled all around the world with a tape recorder under his arm. His goal: to record the most beautiful folk songs and thereby to ensure they would never be forgotten. His name: Alan Lomax. Musician Jan Van Outryve selected the very best from Lomax’s huge archive, arranged them for a six-person band, and recorded two wonderful CDs. With Liedjes met Wortels XL (Songs with Roots XL), Jan brings the very best of these CDs to the stage, with the full band lineup.

Fronting the band are Aline Goffin, Naomi Beeldens and Aleksandra Popovska: three incredible singers who are eager to give their all. Behind them, a unique band with a rich and versatile sound. Together they produce music that makes you want to celebrate, to weep, to sleep, to remember, to set off on an adventure, …. Every song is a gem with its own story.
