Experience the music rooms during the BIG BANG Festival: step into a room and discover a musical surprise. Journey through a world of different music styles while exploring all the hidden corners of Amare!

La Maquina is a percussion ensemble based on improvisation through sign language who combine instruments and grooves from all around the globe. The whole ensemble grooves and dances to improvised music on the spot which is conducted/created by the conductor on the basis of a series of sign gestures. Performed on African sabars, Cuban congas and bongos, Indian tablas, Australian didgeridoo, Bulgarian tupan and many more. Using a sign language called 'Rhythm and Percussion with Signs'.

Performers

La Maquina, based in The Hague, consists of students of The Royal Conservatoire The Hague. The group was created in 2022 by percussionist and conductor Ivan Gianakis from Argentina.
