The 75th anniversary of the Prinsjesdag Concert will be celebrated in grand fashion, kicking off the season with an event full of scintillating sound and musical surprises.

Programme

Tsjaikovski Ouverture-fantasie ‘Romeo en Julia’
Dvořák Celloconcert

Every year, Prinsjesdag celebrates not only tradition but also a new beginning. The Residentie Orkest will be playing a part in the 75th anniversary of the Prinsjesdag Concert, and in the festive introduction of this season’s artist in residence, cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras. It’s guaranteed to be a wonderful launch of the season, full of musical promises!

The collaboration with Queyras, a globally renowned cellist, promises a grand and unforgettable start to the season. This evening he will be performing Dvořák’s compelling Cello Concerto, which combines Slavic influences with American colours into something that captivates both the audience and the performers. On top of that, tonight marks the debut of the young and talented British conductor Kerem Hasan, who is known for his fresh and dynamic interpretations. Hasan will sweep the audience along in the romantic and tragic emotions in the music of Tchaikovsky’s Overture-Fantasy, inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This is a concert not just to listen to, but to see, feel and experience as well.
