This new exhibition questions issues of unregulated migration
The exhibition (UN)DOCUMENTED MIGRATION officially opened on 4 November. You can visit the exhibition from 4 – 11 November on Amare’s Kunstenplein (ground-level). This exhibition is part of Open Amare, our free access programme.
The MA Photography & Society (KABK) presents the exhibition (UN)DOCUMENTED MIGRATION. The exhibition features projects by students as well as the work of guest lecturer Nathaniel White-Steele (UK). These works open up a dialogue surrounding the installation Hostile Terrain ‘94 by US anthropologist Jason de Léon. With his installation, De Léon addresses unregulated migration from Mexico to the United States.
This particular project contributes to making the issue of unregulated migration visible. The exhibition furthermore raises critical questions. To what extent does art contribute to shine a light on the human aspect of migration? And are there alternatives to the dominant narratives and statistics that are presented by mainstream media?
(UN)DOCUMENTED MIGRATION toont de werken van: : Alexy Yurenev, Arianna Calvanesi, Charmaine de Heij, Dafni Melidou, Daniel Chatard, Diego Reindel, He Bo en Jonathan Tang. The poster exhibition Now You See Me Moria runs parallel to this exhibition and can also be seen at Amare’s Kunstenplein.
Opening: 4 November 2022, 15:00-16:30
Exhibition: 4 – 11 November 2022
